Azerbaijan Railways presents its latest acquisition the Kiss double-deck EMU
The first two Kiss double-deck EMUs purchased by Azerbajan Railways (ADY) from Stadler and the status of modernisation works on Baku-Sumgayit-Baku railway ring were presented to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday.
Stadler has delivered two of the five Kiss double-deck EMUs, as part of the agreement signed by Stadler Rail CEO Peter Spuhler and Javid Gurbanov, Chairman of ADY last month.
The four car trains have 396 seats, including 84 business class seats, and have a total capacity of 919 passengers. The trains are equipped with comfortable seats, full air conditioning, passenger information system, WiFi.
The units will first operate between Baku passenger station and Koroglu metro station during the European Games, and will then be used on the Baku-Khirdalan-Sumgayit railway line. The trains will travel in Baku area with an average speed of 63 km/hour.
The total length of Baku-Sumgayit-Baku railway ring is 91 km in length is divided into two sections. The first section features 42 km long Baku-Bilajari-Sumgayıt line, and the second includes 49 km long Baku-Zabrat-Sumgayıt line. Reconstruction work has already been completed on a 55 km long section of the railway.
