Budapest Transport Corporation (BKV) has launched a tender to recondition 222 metro cars, part of Line 3 vehicle fleet, with option on a further 42 cars.
Subject to the tender are metro cars types: 81-717/714 (185 cars) , 81-717 / 714-2M (10 cars) and Ev3 (27 cars). Reconditioning & modernisation works include: bogies and traction motors replacement; worn-out body and chassis replacement; complete re-wiring, cable management and cable protection replacement; complete corrosion protection and where necessary – anti-vibration, thermal insulation; refurbishment of vehicle interiors & new design, including the driver’s cabin; installation of audiovisual passenger information system, interior monitoring and video recording system; installation of new ventilation systems. The upgraded rolling stock should reach at least 90 km/h.
The deadline for submitting bids is the 23rd December and works should be completed within 39 months of the contract signing date.
