Bulgaria: Burgas railway station modernisation begins
Construction works for the modernisation of Burgas railway station were launched today, informed the Bulgarian National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC). The building will undergo renovations to meet energy efficiency requirements, with high-quality and energy-efficient materials being used in the renovation process of the architectural monument.
The contractor for design and construction is Consortium DZZD "Railway Infrastructure Burgas" (Zhelezopatna infrastruktura Burgas). The construction supervision services are provided by the association "Rubicon - EN AP 1". The value of the contracts is BGN 7.4 million ( EUR 3.8 million).
The railway station is expected to be operational by the end of 2015.
The modernisation of Burgas railway station is part of the project "Rehabilitation of railway stations in TEN-T-network - Sofia Central Station, Pazardzhik Station and Burgas StationII-nd stage ", co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, under the Operational Programme Transport 2007-2013.
