CFR SA announces tender for feasibility study for the modernisation of Caransebes -Timsoara-Arad railway section
CFR SA, the Romanian state owned infrastructure manager, announced a tender for "Feasibility study (153517/30.08.2014) for the modernisation of Caransebes -Timsoara-Arad railway section". The value of the tender is RON 13 million ( EUR 2.9 million).
The purpose of the feasibility study is to assess the technical and operational characteristics of the existing railway line and to suggest the intent necessary to modernise Caransebes - Timisoara - Arad railway section part of Railway Axis 22, according to the European requirements for electrified double track , controlled by ERTMS system (ETCS level 2 + GSM-R), allowing speeds of 120 km/h and 160 km/h in accordance with the Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI) and to forecast the demand for passenger and freight traffic, nationally and internationally.
CFR has estimated the Caransebes -Timsoara-Arad (155 km) railway section modernisation works at EUR 670 million.
The deadline for submitting offers is 13.10.2014.
