Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) and China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Corp (CSR) signed a contract for the delivery of  30 six – car trains for Malaysia’s Ampang Line.

This is CSR’s second project for metro trains vehicles in Malaysia. CSR is already supplying  20 units for the extension of the Ampang Line to Bandar Kinrara and Putra Heights.

“Prasarana is proud to be working on this project with CSR, which is producer of world-class trains that are used by major train operators worldwide. The introduction of the new trains will undoubtedly enhance the traveling experience of our commuters,” said Prasarana chairman Tan Sri Ismail Adam at the signing of the agreement.

The new trains would be delivered in stages with the first of the 30 trains to be delivered in May next year and scheduled to be on line at end of July 2015.

Apart from enhanced safety features like closed circuit TV, emergency breakable window, emergency ventilation fan, fire and smoke detection system and supervised automatic train operation system (SATO), the new trains would also provide better travelling experience for commuters with installation of interactive destination display inside the train, non-slipping seats, LCD infotainment and a more spacious wheel chair space for the physically-challenged.
