The Tk 220 bn (EUR 2.8 bn) project would be divided in eight ‘contract packages (CP)’ for easy implementation, said Obaidul Quader,  Minister of Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges.

CP-1 and CP-2 will be for building and developing train depots. The construction of the 20.1 km line and 16 stations will be included under CP-3, CP-4, CP-5 and CP-6. CP-7 and CP-8 will be for developing electro mechanical system and rolling stock.

“From January next year we’ll start inviting bids and the deals will be signed within 2016,” the minister said. The government hopes to complete the project by 2019.
