Dual formation “Sapsan” to set record for world’s longest high-speed train

Russian Railways (RZD) has announced that the dual formation Sapsan train set the Guinness World Record for the longest high-speed train, in a ceremony taking place at Metallostroy high speed train maintenance depot, near Saint Petersburg.
According to the results, the 20 coaches Sapsan trains version, measures 500 meters and 78 centimeters, qualifying the high speed train as the longest in the world. The vehicle has a seating capacity of 1050 and entered service on the 1st of August of on Moscow – St. Petersburg route.
The world record attempt was registered in the presence of an independent commission and in compliance with the established rules.
