EBRD: Yerevan Metro Rehabilitation Project – phase 2

This is an update of the original General Procurement Notice published on the EBRD website on 25.01.2013. The Republic of Armenia and Karen Demirchyan Yerevan Metro Company CJSC (Yerevan Metro Company) intend to use the proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the “EBRD” or the “Bank”), a loan from European Investment Bank (the “EIB”) and a grant from the European Union Neighborhood Investment Facility (the “EU NIF”) towards the cost of the second phase of the Yerevan Metro Rehabilitation Project (Phase II, the Project). The purpose of Phase II of the Project is to address remediation of the metro tunnel’s water ingress problem and other investment components.

The proposed project, which has a total estimated cost of EUR 15 million equivalent, will require the procurement of the following goods, works and services:

• Drainage tunnel rehabilitation and extension and metro running tunnel rehabilitation;
• Metro drivers training simulator
• Metro cars washing station (procurement of equipment and materials only)
• Fire protection equipment

Tendering for the above contracts is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2014.

Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of loans from the Bank and EIB and a grant from EU NIF will be subject to the Bank's Procurement Policies and Rules and will be open to firms from any country. The proceeds of the Bank’s loan, EIB loan or NIF grant will not be used for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, or for any import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations or under a law of official regulation of the Purchaser's country.
