EU co-finances two railway projects in Montenegro
Montenegro will receive for the first time under EU's Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance - Regional Development Component a EUR 22 million grant for environmental and transport projects. An additional EUR 4 million will be provided from the state budget.
Among the five projects to be implemented, two focus on railway infrastructure development:
- Rehabilitation of 12 large slopes, rehabilitation of unstable terrain and construction of protective galleries on the most critical sections of the main railway line Vrbnica - Bar (Kos-Trebešica-Lutovo-Bratonožići). The estimated value of the project is estimated at EUR 5.7 million.
- Dismantling of the existing, procurement and installation of the new electric traction plant in substation Trebješica, also on Vrbnica – Bar line. The estimated project value is EUR 3.6 million.
