EUR 100 million financial aid from EBRD and EIB for modernising Moldovan Railways
The Moldovan Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure will start negotiations with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank about a EUR 100 million loan for an investment project for the modernization of the country's railway network.
The Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure, Vasile Botnari stated that the project will support the modernisation and development of railways , taking into considering that the infrastructure, the communications system and the rolling stock fleet of Moldovan Railways (CFM) require immediate major investments.
"These significant investments, of which EUR 95 million are in the form of loan and EUR 5 million as grant are expected to be directed for the overhaul of rail infrastructure and the purchase of new locomotives and wagons," stated Botnari.
