EUR 130 million loan for the development of Croatian Railways
Croatian government has accepted the Croatian railways' sustainable development project, which stipulates a HRK 1 billion (EUR 130 million) loan to pay for severance packages and for investing in increasing the competitiveness of HŽ Infrastruktura, HŽ Putnički prijevoz and HŽ Cargo.
The three companies will secure the loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), said Sinisa Hajdas Doncic, Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure. Negotiations for the EBRD loan will be held in mid-March 2015 and the approval of the project is expected at the end of April.
Investment projects will include the construction of level crossings, the optimisation of HŽ Cargo rolling stock fleet and the informatisation of HŽ Putnički prijevoz system.
