Poland: Improved railway connections in Warsaw agglomeration
PKP Polish Railway Lines (PKP PLK) signed a PLN 770 thousand contract with IDOM Ingenieria y Consultoria - IDOM Inżynieria Architektura i Doradztwo Sp. consortium for the preparation of the detailed documentation for the reconstruction of four railway stations on Ożarów - Warszawa Gdańska - Mińsk Mazowiecki route. The project also includes the construction of a new railway station, Warszawa Stalowa.
Reconstruction works will include the replacement of switches, allowing higher speeds, the modernization of the signaling systems and the construction of additional side-tracks that will allow the reversal of train direction at terminal station.
After the investment related documents will be received a contractor will be selected and construction works are expected to start in 2017.
In 2014 - 2020, PKP PLK will invest PLN 8 bn in developing the railway infrastructure in Warsaw agglomeration.
