JSC “Russian Railways” allocate RUB 76.1 billion in 2014 for purchasing 629 new locomotives

In 2014, the investment program of RZD includes the purchase of 629 new locomotives (352 electric locomotives and 277 diesel locomotives), with a total value RUB 76.1 billion  (EUR 1.6bn).

It is presumed that the freight locomotive fleet will expand with:

- 40 units 2ES10 "Granit"
- 5 units 2ES5  with asynchronous traction drive
- 8 units AC electric main line locomotive 2ES5K
- 110 units DC 2ES6 "Ekaterinburg"
- 121 units AC electric 3ES5K "Ermak"
- 8 units 2TE25A "Vityaz"
- 7 units 2TE25A MTU
- 74 units 2TE116U
24 units TE116U
40 units 2TE116UD General Electric
- 1 unit 
LNG turbine locomotive GT1h
- 1 unit 3ES4K

It is also planned to buy 12 passenger Dual-Voltage Locomotive EP20, 50 passenger DC electric EP2K, 5 passenger electric locomotive EP1M AC, 30 passenger locomotives TEP70BS.

The shunting locomotives fleet will renew will
- 40 units TEM18DM locomotives
- 20 units diesel locomotives TEM18V equipped with diesel engine of Finnish company Wärtsilä
- 23 units TEM7,
- 8  units TG16M
- 1 unit TEM9H electro-diesel hybrid locomotive build by LudTZ.
- 1 unit TEM19 LNG

Last year,  JSC "Russian Railways" purchased 804 locomotives, totaling RUB 83.5 billion. Currently the total locomotives fleet is former of more than 20000 units.
