KTZ Express, national multimodal transport and logistics company of Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ), opened its official office in Hong Kong.

Kazakh delegation led by KTZ president Askar Mamin and Kazakh Ambassador to China Nurlan Yermekbayev attended the opening ceremony. According to Mamin, the goal is to turn Kazakhstan into a transport and logistics hub and increase the country's transit potential.

"Leaders of Kazakhstan and China gave start to the first phase of the terminal at China's Lianyungang port this May. It is our first project. Today we opened the commercial office in Hong Kong, the international transport and logistics hub of the Asia-Pacific Region, a home to head offices of the largest logistics companies of the world.",  Mamin said.

"Currently, cargo transportation from China to Europe through Kazakhstan takes two weeks that is twice or thrice less as compared to shipping by sea. Launch of the logistics terminal at Lianyungang port let Kazakhstan reach the Asia-Pacific Region and increase volume of export and through shipments via the terminal up to 500,000 TEU," he added.
