Hungary's National Transport Authority (NKH) has issued the final authorisation for MAV-Start's two prototype IC+ coaches for domestic and international operations. The pre-series vehicles have successful passed the 250 thousand passenger-kilometer test.

Designed and produced at MAV-Start's Szolnok workshops, the two vehicles entered passenger trail operations in October 2014. According to NKH, the vehicles meet high standards of rail safety, proved during testing on Austrian and Swiss railways and confirmed by an independent certification body. Having received the final authorisation, MAV - Start has initiated the procedures to keep the coaches in circulation.

The 200 km/h four-axle carriages are equipped with air-conditioning, GPS, CCTVs, audio-visual systems and passenger Wi-Fi.

The IC + development project, including design costs, both prototype and production necessary equipment and infrastructure investments, amounted at  HUF 1.4 bln, of which  HUF 462 mln (EUR 1.5 mln) from EU grants.
