MÁV ZRt, the Hungarian state-owned railway company, plans to launch the series production of InterCity Plus (IC+) coaches, if the necessary financial resources will be made available by the company.
“We have obtained all necessary licences to produce coaches that meet European standards”, MÁV chairman-CEO Ilona Dávid stated in an interview for the local press.
MÁV presented the two prototypes in May 2013. The four-axle passenger coaches can be pulled at a maximum speed of 200 km/h. The developing project cost is estimated at HUF 1.4 bln, including a HUF 462 mln from EU grants.
