New container train from Finland to China launched
TransContainer (RU), ContainerTrans Scandinavia (FI) and Kedentransservice (KZ) have launched a new blocktrain service to transport export goods from Finland to China.
The first block train with the industrial production went from Central Finland on May 20, and arrived at the destination in western China on 31 May. Time en route is 11 days. The 6849 km long route crosses Finland, Russia, Kazakhstan and China.
The successful implementation of the project was made possible due to a broad partnership network covering the territories of all the countries involved, effective coordination between all the participants of the transportation process and productive cooperation with the shipper Stora Enso Oy, one of the leading producers of packaging, biomaterials, wood and paper.
The project is highly competitive with aircraft cargo transportation in terms of delivery time, and the cost of transportation is comparable to the price level offered by maritime transport services.
