As of today, people can travel by train to airport Letiste Leose Janacka Ostrava in Mosnov. The 2.9 km long railway line connecting the airport with the town of Sedlnice is linked to the main railway corridor between Ostrava and Prague and Ostrava and Brno.
This is the first new railway line built in the Czech Republic as a greenfield project after many years.
The Moravia-Silesia region is the first in the Czech Republic to have a regular railway connection to an international airport. It is expected that the highest occupancy of the trains to be related to big events in the region. The Ice Hockey World Championship, which will start in Ostrava on May 1, is one of them.
