PKP Cargo will invest in new multi-system locomotives

PKP Cargo intends to purchase new locomotives this year, which will increase the possibility of expansion beyond the Polish borders. The freight operator has 331 million zł net cash and any additional funds for investment can easily be obtained through the credit accorded by the European Investment Bank.

"2014 will be a year of continuation of our strategy to expand beyond Polish borders. Today we have license for rail freight transport in several major European countries. This year we want to be there with our offer of a sales, not only of PKP Cargo, but also of our subsidiary company Trade Trans, which provides freight forwarding. We have 10 multi-system locomotives. This year we will concentrate on this, so we will enlarge our fleet of these types locomotives" - says in an interview with the news agency Newseria Business Adam Purwin, CEO of PKP Cargo.

The biggest Polish and the second largest in the EU rail freight carrier is licensed to operate in Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Belgium, the Netherlands and Slovakia. PKP Cargo has Bombardier (EU43) and Siemens (EU45) locomotives.
