PKP Intercity presents new training simulator for locomotive drivers
PKP Intercity has presented its new training simulator for locomotive drivers supplied by Polish company Autocomp Management. The EUR 5.5 milllion investment, initiated in 2012, was carried by PKP Intercity in collaboration with Marshall's Office of Mazowieckie Province and the Railway Institute.
"The training simulation will enhance our drivers' skills, and thus improve comfort and safety in rail traffic. The advantage of the project is the possibility of creating different scenarios, including both specific situations and extreme weather conditions or unusual failures", said Piotr Rybotycka, COO of PKP Intercity.
The simulator is located at PKP Intercity's Olszynka Grochowska service facility in Warsaw. The installation includes a mobile platform with interchangeable cabins simulating two types of locomotives EP09 and the EU44 (Hussar).
