PKP PLK modernises 17 railway crossings in Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship
Polish infrastructure manager PKP PLK will invests PLN 17 million (EUR 4 million) in modernising 17 railway crossings in Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. The activity is part of a PLN 3oo million program carried out by PKP PLK to increase safety of traffic on 307 level crossings around the country.
All railway crossings will have traffic light signals. In addition, modern automatic railway crossing signalling systems will be installed.
According to Eurostat’s annual statistics on rail transport accidents in the European Union (EU), Poland ranks first in terms of number of persons killed in railway accidents, 229 in 2013, and rail fatalities by type of accident- level crossings, 50.
