Poland: Pesa’s first Dart electric multiple-unit on trials
Pesa's first Dart EMU manufactured for PKP Intercity has started dynamic testing on Bydgoszcz - Warlubie railway line. PesaDart has exceeded 160 km/h during the trials. Further testing will be carried out by the Railway Institute.
In May 2014, PKP Intercity and Pesa signed a PLN 1.3 billion contract for 20 eight-car Dart EMUs, including 15 years' maintenance.
The EMUs have 352 seats, including 60 in first class, six toilets and space for six bicycles. 70% of components and sub-assemblies will be produced in Poland and more than 350 Polish companies will be involved.
The new rolling stock will start operating at the end of 2015, on the routes: Jelenia Góra - Wrocław - Łódź - Warszawa - Białystok/Lublin and Białystok/Lublin - Warszawa - Koluszki - Częstochowa - Katowice - Bielsko Biała.
