Poland: Wroclaw tramway contract signed

MPK Wrocław and PESA Bydgoszcz signed a PLN 50 million (EUR 12 million) contract for the supply of six 100% low-floor tramways. The vehicles are scheduled to be delivered in the next six months.

The three-section tramway, from Pesa’s TWIST range, is 32 m long and 2.4 m wide, it has 58 seats and can accommodate up to 222 passengers. The vehicle will be equipped with air conditioning system, regenerative braking technology, high capacity accumulators, on-line diagnostic systems, information and advertising system, and will reach speeds of up to 70km/h. 

The acquisition is part of the project Integrated Rail Transport System in Wrocław And Agglomeration – Stage II] ( ZSTS II), which also includes the construction of a tram line to Gaj and Kozanów, the modernisation of rail infrastructure, and the purchasing new bidirectional tramways. 

Depending on the amount of EU co-financing to be received, the tender allows the option of purchasing from 6 to 25 tramways.
