Romania: Alstom to provide pro bono installation of passenger information systems on Metrorex’s Bombardier metro cars
Alstom will provide pro bono installation of 216 passenger information systems on Metrorex's Bombardier BM2 metro cars. The project is estimated at EUR 800,000 and financing will be provided only by Alstom.
"In order to improve passenger comfort, Alstom Transport has agreed to install, at its own cost and expense, electronic passenger information displays on-board BM2 metro trains, without increasing the value of the contract maintenance. The discussions between the parties were completed recently and an addendum will be concluded to this effect, " stated Gabriel Stanciu, CEO Alstom Transport Romania.
According to Stanciu, this agreement also has a commercial component, namely that Metrorex under the multi-annual maintenance contract with Alstom should make payments in a timely manner. "Currently, Metrorex debts towards Alstom Transport Metrorex amount to RON 15.2 million ( EUR 3.3 million).
In 2004, Metrorexhas awarded ALSTOM a 15-year contract worth EUR 240 million for the maintenance of the metro's fleet.
