Russia: MetroElectroTrans tests Uraltransmash tramway

Uraltransmash, member of Uralvagonzavod Corporation, has deliver a single section low-floor tramway to Volgograd’s public transport operator, Municipal Unitary Enterprise MetroElectroTrans. The  improved version of 71-407-01 tramway will undergo trials for 200 days on the busiest routes of the city. A three-section tramway will also be delivered for testing in the next phase of the project.

The tramway is equipped with a frequency-controlled asynchronous electric motor which generates up to 25% energy savings, more comfortable seats, air conditioning unit  in the driver's cabin. 

The decision to purchase the vehicles will be taken by MetroElectroTrans after testing, as  part of the preparation for the World Cup 2018. 

MetroElectroTrans operates 300 one-section tramways, most of them over 35 years old, on 13 routes with a total length of 131.7 km.
