Russian Railways is still interested in the privatisation of Greece’s national railway operator TRAINOSE, rolling stock repair and maintenance firm ROSCO and Thessaloniki Port. Russian Railways prefers to acquire the assets simultaneously.

Russian Railways CEO Vladimir Yakunin made this announcement in a meeting with the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, reports Ria Novosti. According to him, “nothing had gone quiet”. Greece’s Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras expressed interested in cooperating with Russian Railways during discussions with President Vladimir Putin. "Tsipras confirmed that Russian Railways are rightfully interested and agreed that our contacts will be continued, so we are continuing our work”, Yakunin said.

Though radical leftist Syriza party has announced halting all privatisation processes,  the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation has received assurances by the Greek side, that already launched privatisation tenders will not be canceled, should they comply with Greek legislation.
