Russian Railways to purchase 484 new locomotives in 2015
Russian Railways (RZD) investment program for this year will provide RUB 60.2 billion (EUR 838 million) for the purchase of 484 new locomotives (254 electric and 230 diesel locomotives).
The rolling stock fleet will be enlarged with:
- Granite 2ES10 DC electric freight locomotive with asynchronous traction drive (4 units)
- 2ES5 Scythian AC electric freight locomotive with asynchronous traction drive (3 units)
- AC 3ES5K Ermak (73 units)
- Sinara 2ES6 DC electric freight locomotive (99 units)
- Donchak 3ES4K DC electric freight locomotive (29 units)
- 2ES7 AC electric freight locomotive (3 units)
- 2TE25A Hero with asynchronous traction drive (4 units)
- 2TE25KM diesel locomotive (68 units)
- 2TE116U freight locomotive (13 units)
- 3TE116U (12 units)
- 2TE116UD (25 units)
- 2TE116R (1 unit)
- TG16M diesel locomotive (15 units)
- main mainline gas turbine GT1h(1 unit)
RZD also plans to purchase passenger locomotives: Olympus EP20 dual-voltage electric (4 units), EP2K Electric Locomotive (35 units), AC EP1M (4 units) and TEP70BS (15 units).
The shunting locomotives park will add TEM18DM locomotive (64 units), TEM7A diesel locomotives (2 units), TEM14 diesel locomotives (9 units) and TEM19 with a gas reciprocating engine (1 unit).
In 2014, Russian Railways purchased 660 locomotives, with a total value of RUB 76.5 billion.
