Russian Railways request additional 16 million rubles for Trans-Siberian and BAM

Russian Railways request additional 16 billion rubles to investment in the development of the Trans-Siberian and BAM, in order to transport another 39.3 million tons of coal from Kuzbass basin. 

According to RZD, this is the largest infrastructure project the Russian state supports in the amount of 260 billion rubles, including 150 billion rubles from the National Welfare Fund. Currently, the total project cost is estimated  by RZD at 560 billion rubles, most of which – 300 billion rubles the company plans to invest from its own sources.

Basis for the formation of the structure of the project activities was expected to increase demand for the carriage of goods by 55 million tonnes to the current level, the bulk of which will ensure the supply of raw materials from the developing coal and ore deposits of the Far East

Russian Railways should expand approaches to Kuzbass bazin, by own funds and private investors, said a federal official. Private companies have already invested in RZD infrastructure, in exchange for tariff discount. For example, Novatek (oil & gas company) invested 30 billion rubles in Yamal  railway network.
