Russian Railways transported 1.068 bn passengers and 1.227 bn tonnes of freight in 2014
Russian Railways network transported 1.068 billion passengers in 2014, (-1% compared to 2013), including long-distance 102.8 million passengers (-7.2%) and suburban commuters 965500000 (-0.3%).
Compared to previous year, passenger traffic on the Russian Railways’ network in 2014 decreased by 7.1% to 126.6 billion passenger-kilometers, with long-distance passenger traffic down by 9.2% to 96.1 billion and suburban traffic down by 0.6% to 32.5 billion passenger-kilometers.
Russian Railways’ network loaded 1.227 billion tonnes of freight in 2014, which is 0.8 % less than than the previous year.
Freight turnover in 2014 amounted to 2298,3 billion tariff tonne- km, up by 4.6% compared to 2013. Taking into account empty wagon runs, freight turnover was 2954,2 billion ton-km, an increase of 5% compared to 2013.
