Russia’s TransContainer, South Korea’s HTNS launch new block train from Slovakia to Russia
TransContainer, South Korean logistics operator Hanaro TNS (HTNS) and the European logistics service provider JTC have launched a new container block train on a 1,637 kilometers route from Dobra (Slovakia) to Vorsino (Industrial park in vicinity of Kaluga, Russia).
The first train formed of 57 conventional wagons, transporting cargo for Samsung Electronics plant left Dobrá on October 6, 2014 and reached Vorsino three days later. The service will be available two or three times per month.
The pilot train has shown that the new Dobra-Vorsino route is very attractive due to its transit time, optimal in terms of financial aspects, and able to compete with road transport from Central and Southern Europe.
On 25 November 2008, TransContainer and the Slovakian company ZSSK Cargo signed a 15 years long-term lease agreement on the existing cargo terminal at Dobra station (TKD Dobrá) in eastern Slovakia.
