Serbian Railways to invest EUR 1.2 bn in the next three years
In the next three years, Serbian Railways will invest EUR 1.2 billion euros in infrastructure development and acquisition of new rolling stock, informed Zoran Andjelkovic Chairman of the Directors Board of Serbian Railways during the “Railway investment Southeast Europe” conference, taking place in Belgrade.
Andjelkovic also informed about the contracts signed for rehabilitation of Belgrade-Pancevo railway section out of the Russian loan, for the revitalization of Corridor 10 to the Croatian border, for Indjija-Novi Sad railway section and Nis – Dimitrovgrad railway section, financed by a Czech loan.
Infrastructure development plans will focus next on modernisation works on Gilje-Cuprija railway section (13.5 km), including the bridge over the Morava, modernisation of Corridor 11 and completion of the Novi Sad bridge on the Danube and the Zezelj Bridge.
Andjelkovic underlined that the restructuring and break-up of the monopoly are essential for the strengthening of the railway system in Serbia and the Southeast region.
