Serbian Railways starts commissioning construction machinery sent by Russian Railways
On 7 May 2014, a Russian Railways’ train loaded with construction machinery arrived at Ruma station in Serbia.
The equipment is being supplied under a contract between RZD International Railways LLC, a subsidiary of Russian Railways which implements infrastructure projects abroad for the holding company, and Serbian Railways in order to carry out construction work on railway infrastructure and the supply of diesel trains.
The equipment supplied included a laying crane, two motor platforms, a platform with a traction winch and 21 platforms with universal removable equipment, as well as four universal platforms.
After completing the commissioning, the construction equipment will be sent on Ruma – Golubinci section, which is part of Pan-European Corridor X. According to the General Director of Serbian Railways, Dragoljub Simonovic, upgrading works on Ruma – Golubinci and Sopot Kosmajski-Kovačevac railway sections are expected to start in late June this year.
“After completion of the work on these two sections at the beginning of 2015, the modernization works of Mala Krsna-Velika Plana railway section, 29.5 km, will start and during the same year we will begin upgrading works of the remaining three sections of the Corridor 10: Vinarc-Đorđev (about 15km), Vranje Spa-Ristovac (about 17.7 km) and Bujanovac Bukarevac (about 13.8 km)” he added.
