SŽDC launches reconstruction works on Klatovy – Železná Ruda line

Czech Railway Infrastructure Administration (SŽDC) has launched modernisation works of Klatovy – Železná Ruda railway section (50km long).

"This year, we are implementing a number of regional constructions on the national network. The line from Klatovy to Železná Ruda is part of an important connection from Plzeň to Šumava Mountains. Passengers may look forward especially to higher comfort of railway transport in this locality", said Pavel Surý, Director General of the Railway Infrastructure Administration.

Works include the replacement of tracks, new platforms and safety equipment, reconstruction of railway superstructure and substructure.  Railway line capacity as well as safety will increase.  New safety equipment Category 3 and modern communication equipment will be built in all railway stations with the exception of Klatovy.

Construction works between Klatovy and Železná Ruda as such were launched this March and according to the schedule they should be completed next February. This supplier is the company SBT+OHL+AŽD Klatovy consisting of the partners Subterra a.s., OHL ŽS a.s. and AŽD Praha s.r.o. The company manager is Subterra a.s.

Total construction costs amount up to CZK 92, 607,348  (VAT excluded). The investor is the Railway Infrastructure Administration, state organisation. The project is proposed for co-financing by the European Union under the Operational Programme Transport from the Cohesion Fund. National financing of the project is assured by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure.
