Russian Railways (RZD) has announced its intention to purchase 68 2TE25KM freight diesel locomotives manufactured by Bryansk Engineering Plant, part of Transmashholding (TMH).
The new 2TE25KM can haul heavier trains and has lower operation costs, due to the improved engine capacity and increased adhesion weight. The locomotive is fitted with a pre-crash system, air conditioning system and an independent heater to offer additional heating.
In March, TMH started started the 5,000 km operational trials of the new 2TE25КМ mainline freight locomotive.
