Demikhovo Engineering Plant (DMZ, a part of JSC Transmashholding) has received a compliance certificate for serial production of a new rolling stock type, special-purpose  EMU EDS1R.

The special EMU for transport of RZD permanent way work team will come into service for the first time ever. It is formed of two cars, one is designated for personnel needs, another for equipment storage and transportation.

Retooled cars of common passenger EMUs out of service tend to serve as special-purpose trains for maintenance team needs in the field.

A closer attention was paid to working environment. A passenger saloon meets all modern sanitary, ergonomic and safety standards and is equipped with HVAC system, eco-friendly toilet that can be used on all route including sanitary protection zones. The car is fitted with 2 and 6 seater couches and tables between them, also has a cooking zone with serving table, washer, dish dryer, catering cabinets, as well as a refrigerator, micro oven and electric kettle.

The technical car is equipped with boxes, cabinets and racks for tools. Mobile motor-driven crane is mounted on the ceiling to move cargo inside a car and optionally unload heavy equipment and parts from the train. Equipment kit in the car is completed with draw-out containers for spare parts and a convenient work-bench for mechanical works.
