Ukraine: UAH 3.2 bn for Kharkov Metro extension project
Kharkov City Council confirmed the interest of EBRD and EIB in financing the extension of Kharkov Metro third line (Oleksiivska Line). The project costs are estimated at UAH 3.2 bn ( EUR 180 million), of which UAH 148.8 bn will be provided by Kharkov Metro and UAH 18.9 bn by the City Council. Two metro stations (“Derzhavin” and “Odessa”) and an electrodepot will be build. As well, 75 metro cars are planned to be purchased.
“I am pleased to confirm our interest to consider funding the project extension of the third subway line in the city of Kharkov, in the form of a EUR 175 million loan. We assume parallel financing of the project will be provided by the European Investment Bank”, said the EBRD Director for Ukraine Shevko Adzhuner in a letter sent to the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, Anatoly Maksyutov.
The tender process and the selection of a consultant to draft the feasibility study are planned for September-October 2014, with feasibility study to be ready by February 2015.
