United Wagon Company (RPC UWC) and railway freight operator Tehnotrans have announced a strategic partnership and have signed an agreement of intent for the supply of 500 grain hopper cars with improved technical and economic features. The document was signed in the frame of the XVI International Grain Round held in June 8-11, in Gelendzhik (Russia).

The agreement provides for the delivery of 500 grain hopper cars of a new production model produced by Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant (TVSZ, part of RPC UWC railway holding) to railway freight operator Tehnotrans until the end of 2016.

The hopper cars equipped with 25tf bogies have increased cubic capacity of 120m3, which makes it possible to use the complete loadcapacity of up to 76 t for transportation of all types of grain and grain milling products. An innovative freight car bogie allows reducing costs of rolling stock operation and maintenance. The construction of a new hopper car meets the requirements of transshipment terminals.

Timur Berdimbetov, Deputy CEO for Corporate Finance at Tehnotrans, said: “Our company is a partner of large agricultural enterprises. Quality and commercial characteristics of the rail fleet are crucial for us and will improve our competitive advantages in the market. That is why we reached the decision to contact with UWC. I am sure that the future belongs to innovative freight cars, and I am glad that we are building it together.”
