Viking Train heads to Turkey this summer
Viking container train test from Lithuania to Turkey is planned to take place for this summer. According to the Sauliaus Stasiūno, Deputy Development Director of Freight Transportation Directorate within Lithuanian Railways, the action plan last week was agreed last week by Lithuania, Turkey and Romania, representatives Rofersped (Viking operator in Romania) and Plaske (Viking operator in Ukraine) rail companies. The main objective of this action plan is to expand the container train route to Turkey and Scandinavian directions.
“We have agreed with Turkey and the Scandinavian countries to organize special conferences and forums in order to provide commercial offers to potential customers. Already this summer, after the trial of the Viking train from Lithuania to Turkey, we will have also the first container train to run from Turkey to Scandinavia via Lithuania “, – said S. Stasiūnas.
