Warsaw Metro: six new stations until 2019
The Municipality of Warsaw has announced a tender for the extension of Warsaw Metro Line 2 with six new stations (3 + 3). Interested companies will be able to submit separate bids for either of the two extensions or for both. The deadline for submitting offers is March 31, 2015.
The planned stations are:
1. Płocka, Moczydło, Prince Janusz (westwards from the Rondo Daszyńskiego station, 3.4 km long route); architectural and construction design by Biuro Projektów Metroprojekt
2. Szwedzka, Targowek 1, Targowek 2 (north-east form Dworca Wileńskiego station, 3.12 km long route; architectural and construction design by ILF Consulting Engineers Poland.
The time for completion of construction works is 38 months from the date of signing the contract. The project is financed under the ‘Infrastructure and environment’ EU programme.
With the construction of the new six stations, the Line 2 will then have 13.5 kilometers of tunnels and 13 stations. In addition, by 2022 the municipality plans the construction of another five new stations.
