Xanga Group, the Debrecen airport operator, and GYSEV Cargo signed a strategic cooperation agreement to operate freight container trains from Debrecen through Törökbálint Container Terminal, near Budapest and WienCont terminal (Vienna) to European ports starting from January 2015.

Debrecen is the country's only international airport with a direct rail connection, and the service will connect it with European ports such as Koper, Rijeka, Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Rotterdam, stated Lászlo Tasó, the state secretary responsible for transport policy within the national development ministry. He also underlined the role of state capital in the recent developments, considering that the Széchenyi Capital Fund Management Zrt., a state-owned investment company under the professional supervision of Ministry for National Economy, acquired 38% of SAIGO Logistics, the operator of Debrecen container terminal.

György Firbas, Commercial Director of SAIGO said that the containers wagons will be provided by Touax and the lifting machinery and equipment by Zeiss Forkliftcenter. The container train service covers Miskolc, Nyíregyháza, Tiszaujvaros, Mátészalka and Békéscsaba areas, as well as the Western Romania (Cluj Napoca).
