Sofia Municipality announced a tender for the reconstruction of tramway track, roadways and catenary network along Knyaz Alexander Dondoukov Blvd. in the section of Krakra Street to the Youth Theatre and Krakra Street (2357 meters single track; Blvd. "Al. Dondoukov" total tram catenary length is 2500 meters; includes the construction of new tram-stop platforms); Reconstruction of tramway track and roadways on Vitosha Blvd. from Gen. M.D. Skobelev Blvd. to Kraishte Street; Construction of a new tramway track - Seminary - Station Pioneer – G.M. Dimitrov Blvd. – residential area “Studentski Grad”; Rehabilitation of tramway track on Bulgaria Blvd., with focus on noise reduction. 

Sofia Municipality also plans to invest in purchasing five new tramways, 110 buses and to install traffic management systems. A public consultation was held on the 8th of August, on the intention to taking a long-term municipal loan for the implementation of the new public transport vehicles project.
